Time
De-calibration
Interaction Installation
We are now living under the sanction of standard
time unit which gradually becomes an authority
in modern society. Can we de-calibrate ourselves
away from institutional time and jump out from
the overloaded now?
Time De-calibration probes
into the contrast between institutional time and
personal perception of time recreating a non-
linear time experience in chronological-based
world. By using poetry as medium and sound as
the catalyst, Time De-calibration builds up a multi-
sensory interaction experience attempting to drag
people out from the inertia of non-stopping now.
The board shows the contrast between
institutional time and individual perception
of time.
( Real-time interaction and recording, no post-dubbing )
The sound associated with the
blurred words
recreates
the nonlinear time experience of reading
the poem.
Words no longer have a
fixed duration,
but the associations and
memories they evoke
can carry the reader
into the 'pure duration'
a time isolated
from institutional time.
Sound will be triggered by touching or moving the magnets.
While the magnet
moves to the left, the trips gradually rise
and will trigger sounds of memories and
association
that relate to specific words.
